My early inspiration came from legendary Australian news photographer Bruce Postle and internationally acclaimed British photojournalist Don McCullin recognised for his war photography and images of urban strife.Over my 25 years in the profession it has enabled me to travel extensively throughout Australia. To witness life changing events for people has been both inspiring yet also tragically sad.You are literally front and centre covering all aspects of daily life.Covering mother nature at its most destructive in bush fires and floods to international celebrities and world renowned sporting events, it continues to be a rewarding yet extremely challenging job.I believe as technology changes so must we also try to move and adapt with it.However through experience comes knowledge.Knowing what to shoot and how to frame and edit are essential.Split second decisions can be the difference in capturing a timeless image. My favourite image would have to be 'Sailor' pictured below.Though taken 20 years ago it is a timeless photograph shot in Cairns, North Queensland at The Barrier Reef Hotel.A classic character whose face exudes a life well spent.
